DRIVERS EDUCATION

The Drivers Education Physical Damage policy is designed to provide physical damage coverage for street legal and or track prepared vehicle while “On Track”. The coverage will pick up where your standard auto policy ends, if you are participating in approved Drivers Education, Member Day, Autocross, Open Track and Time Trail event.   

The purpose of the program is to provide coverage for damage to a Named Vehicle(s), driven by a Named Driver(s) while participating in a Named Event(s), each of these are to be declared within the application. Additional Vehicles, Drivers, and Events maybe added to the policy, this must submitted and approved prior to the event.

This is first party coverage only and does not extend to damage to the track, bodily injury and or physical damage to another vehicle. If you are interested in coverage that covers damage to the track and or other(s) property please ask about our Drivers Education Liability policy.

Any time the vehicle(s) is “Off Track”, the personal auto policy or an Off Track and Storage policy for the Named Vehicle(s) will provide coverage as it is not on closed course circuit course. Coverage begins and ends while the Named Vehicle(s) enters the track at Named Events only.






There are certain organizations and clubs who are pre-approved for this program. If you don’t see the organization and or club you participate with on our application feel free to submit them to us for approval.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who is the Insurance Company providing my coverage?
• Either Lloyd’s of London or Chubb Custom Market is the current providers through WSIB. These policies are currently non-admitted. Because it is non-admitted, you will see fees and taxes on your quote. These are required by law and the tax amount is determined by your state insurance department.

What is the application process?
• After receiving your completed application, the same will be reviewed and underwritten for acceptance. If there are any questions left unanswered, or if the information contained requires additional information, we will need to contact you for these particular answers. You may either complete the application on our website, fax, or email in the completed application. We strive to provide quotes within 24 hours of receipt. If there are questions in regards to your application, the process will be longer than 24 hours.

Who Is A Covered To Drive My Car?

• The person(s) reflected on the application (Driver(s)) and within the coverage certificate listed as “Named Driver(s)” are the ONLY drivers to whom coverage extends. Any and all other persons who may drive the vehicle on track are not covered, unless approved by WSIB prior to the event.

How do I bind coverage?
• Upon receipt of payment, coverage will commence the next day or the date you request. You may pay for coverage via check or credit card. There is a small fee for credit card transactions. Please contact us if you have any questions.

I have a Personal Auto Policy, isn’t my vehicle already covered?
• Most policies exclude coverage for physical damage and liability while a car is placed on a closed circuit course.

How do I determine the value of my car?

• There are a few recognized websites where you can insert information in regards to the details of your particular car and it will assist you in determining the current value of your vehicle. Those websites are: www.NADA.com and www.KBB.com. You may also refer to your club website and www.Edmunds.com. Your dealership may also be able to assist you. These websites will not take into consideration any modifications that you may have made to your car. If the value of your car is increased because of modifications, please provide a list of these modifications and their values.

How many events will my policy cover?

• The coverage is written on an annual basis. The base rate includes up to 10 “events”. An Event can consist of multiple days on the track, as long as it is included in the club “event”. Additional events can be included and the rate is surcharged based upon the number of events where you will participate.

I have a vehicle that is not street legal and I only use for DE Events, no racing. How is this vehicle covered?
• We consider these to be “Race Cars” and are defined as vehicles not licensed for road use. Coverage can be extended to these vehicles and the rate is surcharged accordingly.

I do not see the Club/Driving School where I participate on the application. What is the process to have my events approved?

• Please list the club/driving school in the “other” are on the application. Some additional clubs have already been approved. If your club has not been approved, we will ask you to provide contact information for the club so that we may contact them and seek approval within the DE program.

What happens in the event of a claim?
• Visit our website http://wsibinsurance.com/online/claim.shtml to report your claim.
• Obtain a copy of the incident report from the club and send us a copy of the incident report from the sanctioning body, school, and or club that organized the event. This should include:
    o Date and Time of the incident
    o Location of incident
    o Statement from Driver about how the incident occurred
    o Contact information for the sanctioning body and or club.
• Photographs of the car prior to stripping
    o These photos at minimum must include one picture of the front, rear, and one of each side.
• Photographs of the individual damaged components must also be included.
    o These must be detailed photos of the damages. If possible please raise the car for better detail.
• An estimate of repair costs
    o Estimates must be from a certified repair shop.
    o Estimate must be on repair shop’s letterhead.
    o The estimate must be detailed. Please include part numbers where available.
    o If multiple repair shops are used (i.e. Body and Mechanical) please combine totals on to a summary page.
• After evaluation of your claim by an adjuster, you will be contacted by us with instructions on how to proceed with your repairs or payment for your vehicle.
• If your car is to be repaired, once repairs have been completed and repair costs totaled, please submit the final invoice.
• Payment is made after the work is completed and the certified mechanic/body shop submits their final invoice.
